What can a Learning License holder drive in South Africa?

A learner license holder in South Africa can operate the vehicles according to the code of learner license was issued. A learner license holder can drive the motor vehicle only in the presence of a fully licensed driver. For example if you are willing to drive a vehicle which requires a professional driving permit, in that case, the supervising driver must hold a valid professional driving permit. There will be three different learner licenses in South Africa. They are:

Code1 Learning License:

  • If you are 16 years old or above, you can operate a motor cycle (which should not exceed 125 CC) under the supervision of licensed driver.

Driving test is the most important part of the driving license. Driving test is conducted by the DLTC under a qualified examiner. Any resident of South Africa who intends to apply for driving license, they have to apply for learning license. During the learning license period the holder will practice under the supervision of license holder. After the completion of the driving practice, learner license holder must apply for the driving test to get the driving license. Driving Licence Test:

Driving Licence test includes two tests; they are knowledge test and the practical driving test. In South Africa before issuing the learner license DLTC conducts a knowledge test, which should be passed by the applicant. Lost Driving License:

The government of South Africa issues a duplicate license in the place of lost driving license. The driving license holders of South Africa who have lost their driving license or whose license is stolen or damaged, they can apply for the replacement of their lost driving license. Initially a temporary driving license is issued on the same day but you have to wait for 4 to 6 weeks to get your lost driving license replacement.

How to apply for the Replacement of a Stolen or damaged or lost Driving License in South Africa?

The license holders of South Africa can apply for the replacement of their lost driving license or their stolen or damaged driving license by visiting their nearest DLTC (Driving License Testing center).
